Leona was a homemaker until her children were grown and then started a career with Peabody Coal as an Administrative Assistant for ten years. Leona loved to to shop, work jigsaw puzzles, and go out
dancing with her husband, Charles, on Saturday nights.
Leona was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 66 years Charles, who died on April 1, 2019, her parents Frank and Nellie Gwazdacz, her sister Ann (Tom) Callahan.
Surviving are her son, Charles Kevin (Lynda) Sarkisian of Kingston, AZ; her daughters, Karen (Phillip) Brucker of Woodstock, GA and Gail Ellison of Roswell, GA; her two grandsons, Drew (Marianna) Brucker of Johns Creek, GA and Chad (Lauren) Brucker of Alpharetta, GA; her four great grandchildren, Caden, Mila, Ellie and Sophia Brucker; her brother Tom Gwazdacz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held on July 8, 2024. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetary in Canton, GA.
