Leona Mary Stahl

Leona Mary Stahl, age 90, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at the Iowa Life Center in Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish – St. Cecelia in Algona. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of mass with a rosary beginning at 9:15 AM at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona. Lentz Funeral Home of Algona is assisting the family.
Leona was the daughter of Peter and Emma (Germann) Reding and was born on December 16, 1933. She graduated from St. Joseph High School.
Leona worked at Northwestern Bell in Algona as a telephone operator. On January 22, 1958, she was united in marriage to James Stahl at St Cecilia Catholic Church in Algona. Jim and Leona farmed in the LuVerne/Livermore area for many years. Leona also worked in Humboldt at the US Postal Service. After retirement, Jim and Leona moved to Algona.
Leona loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them in many of the activities they participated in. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, singing, and all spectator sports. She was a member of the St. Cecelia Catholic Church.
Left to cherish Leona's memory is Paula (Randy) Gorres of New Hampton, Diane (Dave) Marty of LuVerne, Steve Stahl of Urbandale, Cathy (David) Kerr of Johnston, grandchildren Eric (Paula) Gorres, Kyle (Hannah) Gorres, Jill (Chris) Moore, Jessica Marty, Austin (Margaret) Kerr Leligdon, Brett Kerr, and great grandchildren Christian, Mateo, Peyton, Bennett, Scarlett, and Kennedy.
She was preceded in death by her parents (Peter and Emma), her husband (James), her brother (Peter C), and sister-in-laws Irene Reding and Pat Stahl.
