Catahoula - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at St. Rita Catholic Church honoring the life of Leona C. Lasseigne Thibodeaux, 92, who passed away on January 1, 2026, at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home.
A visitation will take place at Dion Hall on Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 10:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 7:00 AM to 1:45 PM.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Tuesday.
Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass and the reader will be Pearly Champagne.
Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
Leona was born on July 9, 1933, in Catahoula, Louisiana. Leona loved going to church and lived her life guided by her strong faith. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life-traveling, going out to eat, listening to music, and dancing whenever she had the chance. A talented and creative soul, she enjoyed sewing and baking, often sharing her creations with those she loved.
Above all, Leona cherished time spent with her family. Whether gathered together for special occasions or everyday moments, her presence brought warmth, laughter, and comfort to all who knew her. She will be remembered for her loving heart, gentle spirit, and the joy she brought into the lives of so many.
Leona's memory will live on through the love she shared and the countless moments that will forever be held in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Carrol Thibodeaux (Brenda); sister, Virgina Willis; grandchildren, Logan Stephenson (Karin), Caleb Stephenson (Jamie), Naomi Mire (Geoff), and Teddy Thibodeaux (Brandy); 11 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her spouse, Lincoln Thibodeaux; parents, Vincent and Estelle Lasseigne; son, Harold Thibodeaux; daughter, Catherine Stephenson; sister, Agnes Courville; brother, Edward Lasseigne; and her daughters-in-law, Jane Thibodeaux and Mary Thibodeaux.
Pallbearers will be Logan Stephenson, Caleb Stephenson, Teddy Thibodeaux, Blythe Hulin, Pearce Hulin, and Christian Hulin.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
