Charles Leonard Bisson passed away with his family by his side at the age of 93.
Charles is survived by his three children, John, Scott and Carla and grandchildren
Carson and Ben.
Born on Jan 26, 1932, in Woodland Ca, he was raised in Davis Ca by his parents
Charles and Alta Bisson with his older brother Don. Sadly, he was orphaned when his
mom passed in 1938, and his father passed in 1940. He was then taken in by his
relatives in Berkeley Ca where he attended Berkeley High and subsequently went to
trade school to study being a machinist. That was interrupted when he was drafted in
the Korean conflict but remained stateside to study electronics. Following the US Army,
he used the GI bill to study advanced mathematics at Berkeley which he then used for a
career in computer programming. It was also in Berkeley where he met his future wife
Claire, whom he married in 1956. Their first son was born in Berkeley in 1958 followed
by their second son in 1961 in Menlo Park, Ca and finally by a daughter in 1967. After a
few years in Menlo Park they eventually settled down in Alamo, Ca in 1969. He was
devoted to his family, often taking them on camping trips to Lake Tahoe or stimulating
his kids interest in science or making things in the garage. He showed his kids how to
repair cars, rebuild engines or build radios. No project was too big. His hobbies also
included flying private aircraft and photography.
Unfortunately, he lost Claire in 2007 after a seven-year battle with Alzheimer's. he was
truly devoted to her and was by her bedside to the end. His patience and kindness
were unmatched. He set a example for all of us to live by. His life was one of love,
compassion and faith in God. He will be remembered not by how his life ended but how
he lived his life.
His most recent passion were his two grandchildren, Carson and Ben which filled him
with great pride, attending school or sporting event or just helping with homework. He
was truly a driven person and right up until the end he was studying the brain, hoping to
find insight into Alzheimer's disease. His passing has left a void in our hearts, but he left
a profound impact on our lives.
A celebration of life will be held at St Isadore Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, at 10:30AM
