Leonard Fausset was born February 25, 1955 to Paul Nobel and June Fausset. He grew up in Rosedale area and graduated from Rosedale high School in 1973. Later her would marry his high school sweetheart Debbie Erwin. They were married for 50 years. They would have two sons together, Jerome and Jacob. He is survived by his loving wife Debbie, sons Jerome of Kansas City; Jacob (Michelle) of Wasilla Alaska; his sister Cheryl Braunlich of Kansas City; and many dear nieces and nephews and cousins; and a host of other close friends who though of him as their own spiritual, brother and father that are too numerous to mention.
Leonard enjoyed the outdoors, hiking (when younger), camping and sitting around a camp fire. As his love for creation grew, so did his appreciation of his Creator. He became one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1975 and was baptized on August 23. He was appointed an elder in the Indian Springs Congregation and later at Chelsea Heights where he continued to serve for the next 40 years.
Leonard learned the construction trade as a teenager when working with his brother John. He became a skilled carpenter, cabinet maker and home builder. He enjoyed using those skills to make props for dramas, remodeling and building Kingdom Hall across the state of Kansas. Leonard especially loved teaching his sons his trade as he would initially take Jerome with him and later Jacob when he was older which allowed the whole family to work on projects together. It became a family affair.
In addition to his love of working with wood, he became interested in restoring "hit and miss" engines. As a child he remembered his grandfather working in the oil fields with these engines. It pleased him to refurbish something that was considered no longer useful to modern society. In addition to the satisfaction of seeing the machines run again, it also served as a source of income for our family.
Leonard also enjoyed entertaining. Having meals with friends, a hayride or sitting around a bonfire in the back yard. Of course, the brothers were always welcome to stop by the shop during the day or to his office in the evening for a visit.
In recent years when he took Debbie to the store, he would sit in the car and make phone calls on many in the congregation. He had a deep love for the friends and was a true shepherd and will be greatly missed by many.
Together we can look forward to the fulfillment of the promise at Isaiah 25:8 "He will swallow up death forever and the sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe the tears from all faces. For Jehovah himself has spoken it."

I remember when he would stop by and get blueprints copies when I worked in Olathe. He always had a big smile and a laugh that was infectious. When he would leave he would share an encouraging scripture or experience from his many duties/hats he would have. I am truly sorry to have heard about him but I know he would say "Don´t be sad for the time is coming when we won´t have death anymore". And that infectious smile would return as we said goodbye. Now I can´t wait to say "Welcome back! ". Thank you for all of the encouragement over the years. Much love. Chris and Dawn Waugh
