Leonard Allen Gone was born on January 25, 1957 in Fort Belknap Agency to Mary Joyce Birdtail & Calvin Pete Gone. He grew up in Hays, MT (Mission). Attending Grammar School at St. Paul's Mission and Highschool at Hays Lodgepole. He was active on his High school basketball team and loved basketball. He graduated in 1977 and immediately enlisted in the Army. He was later Honorably Discharged. He attended MSU Missoula and recieved his Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. Leonard worked as a social worker in Alaska, Fort Belknapp and Missoula. He was acive in our Aanith traditional way of living. He helped at many sundances and helped his Rocky Boy family with their Sundances as well. He sang Indian at many powwows throughout his life time singing songs his dad Pete taught him and his brothers. He was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt. His favorite team was the Minnesota Vikings. You cauld find him on gameday sitting on his recliner wearing his Viking jersey and knitted Viking hat. He spent most of the fall hunting elk with his sons, nephews, nieces & grandchildren. Uncle wil be missed at Elk Camp. He had a lifelong fur baby Bean, Let me tell you about Bean. At one of our camps My dog Hunter went after Bean and Uncle Len fell while trying to save his beloved Bean. He was so upset that he in my "opinion" (fell) he vent to his camper and grabbed his gun. I was walking my dog back to my camper and turned and yelled at him to knock it off. Al the while shaking in my boots. Of course, after the dust cleared, he come into my camper to apologize.
