Leonard Harcrow went to be with his Lord on May 10, 2025. He was born in Delta County, Texas, on July 23, 1932. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret Harcrow, 3 sisters, a grandson, and a granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife OraLee of 25 years; daughter and husband Andrea and Jack Whittle of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; son Jim Harcrow of McKinney, Texas; son and wife Timothy and Becky Harcrow of Frisco, Texas. He is also survived by 2 step-children Donna and Jimmy Trantham of Mt. Vernon, Texas and James "Andy" Reed of Winona, Texas. He has 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. His memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Friendly Baptist Church, Tyler, Texas. Visitation will follow service at the church.
He graduated from Cooper, Texas High School in 1951. He received his Bachelor's degree from East Texas State University in 1955 and his Master's degree in 1972. He began his career in education in Winnsboro, Texas where he did his student teaching; following Winnsboro he taught at West Delta ISD, Klondike, Texas; Dallas ISD, Dallas, Texas; and Mt. Pleasant ISD, Mt. Pleasant, Texas as Vocational Administrator and set up a vocational program that was recognized as the most outstanding vocational program in the state. He had a strong belief in teaching students a trade as a way to make a living, whether or not they attended college. He retired in June, 1990. Following his retirement as a school administrator, he worked for Texas Utilities, Mt. Pleasant, Texas as a security guard for 10 years. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club serving as President 1975-76; served as President of Texas Vocational Administrators and Supervisors Association in 1990; was a member of the Titus County Child Protective Services Board 2000-2007. He had a love of gardening and always grew enough vegetables to share with friends. He was a member of Friendly Baptist Church, Tyler, Texas, and the Pathfinders Sunday School Class.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Newman, Randy Ralson, Tommy Berry, Jack Corley, Rick Ellis, and Nic Castle. Officiating ministers will be Dr. Clint Davis, Rev. Chad Johnson, and Randy Ralson.
