Leonard Heldt, age 90 passed away due to old age.

Leonard was born in Chicago on July 25, 1935 and lived most of his life on the north side of the city. Leonard had a passion for cars and gardening. He was a proud owner of 2 successful auto repair and engine rebuilding businesses.

After he retired, his passion for automobiles led him to participate in various car shows and parades. He also loved gardening and spent many summers cultivating beautiful flowers. He enjoyed sitting in his garden talking with the neighbors.

Leonard was a sweet man who was devoted to his family and loved them deeply. His children remember attending church as a family every Sunday. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Dolores Heldt and granddaughter Lauren Zlotkowski. He is survived by his two children David Heldt (wife Cathy) and Juliann Reno (husband Chuck) as well as his grandchildren: Eric Zlotkowski (wife Sidney), Peter Heldt and Frances Heldt. He is also survived by  step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic and deep love for his family.

A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 11:00 am Saturday October 25th. A visitation will be held at the church at 10:00 am before the service.
