Leonard Glenn Minnix, age 77, of Covington, died Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Lewis-Gale Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor.
Glenn was born June 7, 1947, in Wise County, and was preceded in death by his parents, the late Sherman Freeman and Irella Minnix; a sister, Shirley Freeman; two brothers, James and Ronnie Freeman.
Surviving his loss is his wife, Mary Carol Richmond Minnix of Covington; a son, Nicholas Glenn Minnix of Newark, Delaware; a sister, Lorene Freeman; four brothers, Steve, Curtis, Randy and Garlin; and many other family members. Glenn loved and cherished by all his family, including those he spent much of his time with in retirement; sister-in-law Coleen Sexton and her husband, Jerry; sister-in-law Gayleen Criddle; sister-in-law Maxie McWilliams and extended family too long to list without fear of hurting anyone's feelings. He was fulfilled in retirement by newer relationships with good neighbors and friends, Frank. Sue, Gary, Woody and Jan, and of course his longtime good friend and pool partner, Brad Righi. His wife and son will forever feel and cherish his deep love for them.
Glenn worked as a forklift operator for over 30 years with Gaylord Container/Temple-Inland until his retirement from the company in 2012. He then worked for Merit Mechanical Inc. as a truck driver in Delaware until his retirement in 2013.. He enjoyed shooting pool; fixing things and teaching life lessons; loved cars – driving them, working on them, looking at them, reading about them, talking about them, watching shows with people fixing them up, and anything else that had to do with cars. He loved his country and was extremely proud of his service to it in the United States Army. His interest in cars might only have been matched by his interest in the military, its history and its advances. He was fiercely protective of his family, but he wasn't violent by nature and didn't love those things for violence. He was so proud to feel a part of the mystique of the U.S. military. He was the person friends and family called when they needed something fixed, built, or installed, help to do any of those things, or advice on how to do it. On the rare occasion he didn't know how, he might not tell you, but you can bet he would learn how if he didn't.
In keeping with his wishing his body has been cremated.
Funeral arrangements for Mr. Minnix are incomplete and have been entrusted to Arritt Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dunlap Fire and Rescue Department, 4115 Midland Trail, Covington, VA 24426.
Online condolences may be shared wtih the family at arrittfuneralhome.com.

We were so sorry to hear of the sudden loss of our Uncle Glenn. He always had so much energy-more than the younger ones! A loyal and trusted friend of my Dad... and Brother Brad.... They both spoke so highly of him. I have so many fond memories of him, and Aunt Carol. Blessings to you, and Nick.

My greatest condolences. Glenn was loved and cherished by everyone that knew him. You could also rely on his sense humor and story telling to give you a good laugh. I could go on and on about all the memories. He will be greatly missed beyond what words could ever say.
