Leonard Robert "Len" Piorkowski, age 75, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family and Gentiva Hospice. Born on March 12, 1949 in Detroit, Leonard was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having earned a National Defense Service Medal during the Vietnam Era.
On February 16, 1996, he married Suzanne May (Schwarz) Piorkowski, and together they enjoyed over twenty-eight years of marriage. Whether it was cheering on the Detroit Red Wings from their season-ticket seats or strategizing over a game of blackjack during his casino trips, Leonard was a man who knew how to enjoy life. His playful spirit and zest for life will be sorely missed but fondly remembered.
Surviving are his wife, Suzanne Piorkowski; Suzanne's four daughters, Christine & James Pacheco, Lisa Fox, Linda Hutchins, and Danielle & Scott Mazzari; and two granddaughters, Kaitlyn Hutchins and Bailey Hutchins.
Committal services, with military honors, are at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, Michigan.
Contributions in memory of Len may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
