Leonard D. Remus, age 67, of Tennessee, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, leaving behind a lifetime of hard work, adventure, and cherished memories. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Lenny was a skilled carpenter whose hands built not just houses, but homes filled with warmth and love. Among his proudest accomplishments was completing his lifelong dream-a cabin in the mountains of Tennessee, where he spent his days fishing, excavating new land, and enjoying a well-earned cold beer.
Lenny is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Sharlet; his beloved bonus daughter, Kelly Kay McGregor; and his faithful four-legged companion, Lucky. He also leaves behind his three sisters, Jackie (Cliff) Alligood, Regina (John) Colasanti, and Anne Marie (Eunice) Remus; nieces, Elise (Ben) Dornfeld, Lauren Alligood, Carly Anna; nephews, Jason Colasanti and Noah Dornfeld; also many cousins, family and friends who will forever remember his humor, craftsmanship, and unwavering spirit.
Lenny passed quickly, found by his wife outside, on his mountain land, by a new house site he was making plans for - a small winter cabin. Sharlet, Len's wife, will never forget the poetic statement Len made the first time he laid eyes on her as he was coming over to install a cabinet, Len said to her "Who left this flower in the woods for me to pick!" Which adds a touching dimension to being found in their own woods, by his wife, with the dew of his cherished mountain land covering his jacket & clothing as Len's wife lifted him up in prayer & placed him into the loving arms of His Savior, Jesus Christ. The story of Lenny's life has been written but it's not the end...
Lenny's legacy is one of resilience, dedication, and an appreciation for life's simple joys. Whether casting a fishing line at dawn, trekking through the woods, searching new house sites or raising a toast with friends and family, he embraced every moment with heart and grit. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
To honor Lenny's memory in lieu of flowers donations are asked to be made towards Dr. Feun's Melanoma Research Fund (or any cancer causing matter) at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in Miami, Florida. Isaiah 35:1-2
"The desert will rejoice, and flowers will bloom in the wilderness. The desert will sing and shout for joy; it will be as beautiful as the Lebanon Mountains and as fertile as the fields of Carmel and Sharon. Everyone will see the LORD's splendor, see his greatness and power."
As you reflect on Lenny's journey, may the mountains and morning dew serve as gentle reminders of his peaceful transition. In his honor, consider raising a toast, going trout fishing, or building something lasting-activities that encapsulate the spirit of his life.
May these actions and memories bring comfort and keep Lenny's (& Jesus') legacy alive.
