Leonard C. Sobieray, age 93, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born April 19, 1932, in Dearborn, Michigan to the late Clarence & Martha (Kuffel) Sobieray. He helped his parents in the building and maintenance of Sunny Cove Sub-division on the Saginaw Bay north of Pinconning even after moving back to Dearborn.

He graduated from the old High School in Pinconning, Michigan, with the Class of 1949. He served honorably in the U.S. Army for 2 years during the Korean conflict. Len served in Germany at the Panzer Kaserne in the 301st signal group, attached to the 7 th Army Headquarters Signal Depot Radio Operation Company. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to Dearborn and was employed by the City of Dearborn as a Police Officer for 27 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3 rd Degree council 3860 for 50 years. A member of the Directors Circle at the St. Paul of the Cross Passionist Retreat Center in Detroit, Michigan, he attended 48 weekend retreats. He was also a life member of Post 5112 Esper-Blavat at Dearborn, Michigan, but now at large after leaving the City of Dearborn Police Department. Len worked with the United States Marshall's in the Eastern District of Michigan for 18 years, working at the Bay City, Michigan Federal Building on Washington Street. He was a member of Mid-Michigan Blood Bank, where he donated 16 gallons of blood. Served his country and community with honor and distinction.

Len loved fishing on Saginaw Bay and spending time at the cabin in the U.P. north of Newberry, at the Mt. Forest Club. He loved to travel thru the beauty of the United States, visiting 47 of the States.

He is survived by his sisters Bernadine Wachal, Carolyn Knoth, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister's Mary Ann, Le Fevre. Preceded in death by 2 brothers in law Robert Wachal and Michael Knoth

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday March 12, 2026, at 12 pm from Holy Trinity Parish St. Michaels Church with Rev Fr. Matthew Federico presiding with burial and military honors at St Agnes Cemetery. Family will greet friends and family on Wednesday from 4 pm to 8 pm at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Pinconning Chapel and at the church on Thursday from 11 am until time of Mass.
