Stephan Kopka Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home - Pinconning on Mar. 5, 2026.
Stephan Joseph Kopka, passed away peacefully at his home on March 4, 2026. Born on January 29, 1957, in Pinconning, Michigan, to the late Joseph and Julia (Belchak) Kopka, Stephan grew up with a love for the outdoors and a spirit that would define his life.

A proud graduate of Pinconning High School in 1975, Stephan went on to establish himself as a professional grounds and facility technician for Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) and honed his skills as a meat cutter for several local meat markets. His work ethic and dedication to his craft were admired by all who knew him.

Stephan married his beloved wife, Karen Niedzinski, on August 12, 2009, in Standish, Michigan. He was father to Jason (Barb) Kopka, Jerame (Rochelle), Michael (Kathy) Mrozinski, and Jennifer (Dan) Doran, and a doting grandfather to Steven (Morgan) Good, Joseph Kopka, Jeffory Kopka, Megan Kopka, Tanner Bourassa, Austin Bourassa, Hannah Bourassa, Olivia Kopka, Owen Kopka, Chelsey Mrozinski, and Nick Doran. His great-grandchildren, Atticus and Elias Good.

Stephan's siblings, Barbara (Phillip) Gates, Arthur (Linda Jensen) Kopka, and Ruth Phillips, will remember him for his spirited conversations. His furry friend Bruce was a constant companion. He was preceded in death by his siblings Ray Kopka, Carol Benavidez, Mary Worden, and Sharon Brent.

An avid collector of guns, Stephan's interests extended to fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors, riding and working with his tractors. He looked forward to the annual hunting camp with his family, where he was often the first to get a buck. His love for strong conversation was well-known, and he especially cherished these moments with his granddaughter.

Celebration of life will be held Tuesday March 17, 2026, at 6 pm form Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Pinconning Chapel with Mr. James Niedzinski presiding. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 1 to 6 pm on Tuesday.
