Leonard ‘Lonnie’ H. Swain Jr., 80, of Williamsport, MD, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

Born on April 17, 1943, in Hagerstown to the late Leonard and Janice (Martin) Swain.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Swain.

Lonnie was a graduate of South Hagerstown High school and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.  He retired from Verizon after a 30-year career as a Cable Splicer/Repairman. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Funkstown American Legion and Williamsport Redmen.

‘Pap’ as he was lovingly known, enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, camping and boating and created countless memories with family and friends.

His memory is cherished by his devoted wife of 60 years, Zandra ‘Sandy’ Swain; his loving daughter, Deena Swain, and her husband, Jeffrey Martin; his sister, Joni Grimes-Fitzgerald, and her husband, Wayne.  Pap’s spirit lives on through his three grandchildren, Jennifer Jernigan (Scott), Stephanie Baker (Michael), and Ashley Fredlock (Michael), as well as several great-grandchildren; Oliver, Wylie, Jared, Destiny, Andrew, Jacob and Aaron.  He is also remembered by his beloved sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, two great-great grandchildren and a host of many friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742 with Lee Morris officiating.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
