Leonel Garza, a devoted family man and dedicated worker, passed away on January 24, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on May 7, 1963, in Laredo, Texas, and spent much of his life in the construction industry, contributing his skills and strong work ethic to various projects throughout his career.
Leonel was a proud graduate of Pearsall High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with hard work and family devotion. Not only was he known for his dedication to his job, but he also had a vibrant personality that brought joy to those around him. Leonel had a profound appreciation for music, particularly the passionate songs of Vicente Fernandez, whose songs he would sing with remarkable vocal likeness, bringing smiles to the faces of all who heard him.
In addition to his love for music, Leonel was an enthusiastic supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, often cheering them on during their games. He also enjoyed playing pool, a hobby he cherished as a means of relaxation and connection with friends and family.
Leonel is survived by his daughter, Audrey Garza; his siblings Laura Hewtty (Jerry), Javier Garza (Sandra), Sandra Tuttle (Jeff), and Yessica Gonzales (Gabriel); and his beloved grandchildren Dominic Mamac, Christian Mamac, Makaleka Mamac, and Penelope Perez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Garza and Maria Belem Arizpe Garza; his sister, Cynthia Garza; and his grandchild, Angel Leonel Mamac.
His memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends, who will carry forward the legacy of his kindness, laughter, and enduring spirit. Leonel Garza will be greatly missed, but his influence and warmth will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
