On December 21st, 2025, Leonel Gustavo Rodriguez, who was passing through this world, arrived at his destination in heaven to be with his Creator, Almighty God. Our beloved Leonel will be deeply missed here on earth, as he left many cherishable memories. Leonel was born on June 6th, 1991, to Eva Martina Astorga and Leobardo Rodriguez in Hobbs, New Mexico, where he lived his entire life. Leonel attended Southern Heights Elementary, Houston Junior High, Hobbs High School, and NMJC.
Leonel was the life of the party. He was a clown in the best way, always making people laugh and bringing light into every room. He loved music, loved recording himself, taking pictures, and living life out loud. He was good at everything he tried, and soccer was his specialty.
But more than anything, he loved his daughter, Leonie, with his whole heart. She was his world. Losing him hurts in ways words can’t explain, but his love, his laughter, and his spirit live on through her and through all of us.
Leonel will not be alone. He will be reunited in heaven with Grandpa Cesareo Astorga, Grandpa Severo Rodriguez, Grandma Maria Rodriguez Marquez, and many other family members who went before him.
He is survived by his daughter, Leonie Sarah Rodriguez; his mother, Eva Martina Astorga; his father, Leobardo Rodriguez; his grandmother, Maria Felipa Astorga Lopez; his sister, Jessica Dawnelle Rodriguez; his brothers Miguel Angel Rodriguez, Ariel Damian Rodriguez (Jerrica), Leobardo Severo Rodriguez, Errick Rae Rodriguez, and Adrian Rodriguez; his sisters Angelina Rodriguez, Lizzette Rodriguez, and Isabelli Rodriguez; many nephews and nieces; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Leonel will always be loved, will forever be missed and will definitely never be forgotten.
