Leonette M. (Jacques) Lavoie, 98, of Lawrence, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at her home.
Born and raised in Lawrence, she was the beloved daughter of the late Phillias and Josephine (Auclair) Jacques, and one of a close-knit family whose bonds shaped her entire life.
Leonette spent more than 25 years working as a solderer for Lucent Technologies, where she was known for her steady hand, strong work ethic, and dedication to her craft. She took pride in her work and in the friendships she formed over the years, many of which lasted well into her retirement.
Outside of work, Leonette enjoyed a rich and full life. Whether dancing at family gatherings, playing Bingo with friends, or hunting for bargains while shopping with her sister, Loretta, she brought joy, humor, and companionship to every outing. Her gentle presence and easy laugh made her a cherished companion.
Above all, Leonette treasured her family. She delighted in every shared meal, holiday, and visit, and she was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love leave behind a legacy that will be carried forward in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was predeceased by her 12 siblings.
Leonette will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Nancy Leighton and her husband, Dan of Epping, NH; son, Gary Dumas and his wife, Carol of Raymond, NH; brother, Roland Jacques; grandchildren, Michael Leighton and his wife, Sara of Spencer, and Christopher Leighton and his spouse, Kevin Tang of NY; greatgrandchildren, Ashely and Madison Leighton, both of Spencer. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Methuen Family Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours, beginning promptly at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leonette's memory may be made to AgeSpan, 280 Merrimack St #400, Lawrence, MA 01843.

Earlier today

My condolences to the family. Leona was a beautiful lovely woman who treated me like family. I just loved being in her company, especially when her sister Loretta was present. Her infectious laughter is what stands out to me. One would always laugh right along with her even if you didn't understand what it was all about. I smile today just feeling her laughter in my heart and soul. You will be missed Leona.
