Gabaldon MortuaryLeonor "Nora" Sena, 96, A lifelong resident of New Mexico; passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 24, 2025.
She is survived by her daughter Priscilla Pellegrino; son-in-law Tom Ortega; grandchildren: Leonard Claps (Bonnie), Lara Sena, Francine Wilson (Ethan), Daniel Claps(Lupe), Antoinette Wallace (Dennis) and Gayle Jaramillo (Luis); 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; her sister Geneveve Aragon and numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Oliverto "Beto" Sena; daughter Mary Ortega; granddaughter Michelle Claps; son-in-law Nunzy Pellegrino; her parents Corsinio and Andreita Garcia; brothers George, Isidro and Horacio Garcia; sister Esther Langley.
Nora was born in Dilia, NM on January 10, 1929. Her uncle Willie Perea introduced her to her husband Beto many years before they would marry in 1946. They had two beautiful daughters and moved around for work before finally settling in Albuquerque. She worked many years as a seamstress before retiring to help care for her grandkids.
Nora was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had many hobbies, but sewing especially blankets was her specialty. Anyone that knew her, knew she loved to go to the casino. Any aches and pains she had would suddenly disappear as soon as she walked in the door.
She loved to sit at the kitchen table drinking her coffee and eating cookies (peanut butter or biscochitos that she made); in the afternoons she would watch TV (Walker, Texas Ranger, Big Valley and of course Wheel of Fortune)
Spending time with her family is what she treasured most. Whether it was going shopping, BBQs, parties or going out to eat, then getting mad because we wouldn't let her pay. She would say, "I'm not coming out with you again". She will be deeply missed by all that knew her, but we know she is happy to finally be reunited with her honey. We are blessed to have had the best Nana anyone could ask for and we have many many memories to help comfort us.
Special thank you to Hospice De La Luz for the care and compassion given not only to Nora, but her family as well.
