Leota Marie Kudrna, of Stevens Point, passed away at home on February 4, 2023, at the age of 79.
Leota was born on February 18, 1943 in Dickinson, ND, to Antone and Leontine (Elis) Eberts. She grew up in the area, attending local schools in nearby South Heart, ND; graduating from South Heart High School in 1961.
Leota married Raymond Kudrna on February 25, 1963 in Dickinson, ND. Leota selflessly, and happily, devoted the rest of her life to being Raymond's wife, the mother of their four children, and eventually, a beaming grandmother for their grandchildren. In their early years of marriage, Raymond and Leota relocated to Stevens Point, WI. For 19 years, she worked at St. Michael's Hospital; first in admissions and then as a phlebotomist.
After retiring in 2009, Leota discovered a love for traveling and went on many senior bus trips. While she also enjoyed gardening, embroidery, crocheting, and knitting, nothing could top spending time with her family. Whether it was playing board games, card games, or doing puzzles, her family was the most important to her.
Leota is lovingly survived by her husband, Raymond; their children, Kelly (Sue) Kudrna, Sheila (Ron) Anderson, Rhonda (Ron) Stauss, and Kurt (Sue) Kudrna; three grandchildren, Savana Stauss, Kellen (Amanda) Stauss, and Nelia Stauss; and a great-granddaughter, Wren Stauss. She is further survived by a brother-in-law, Keith Knopik, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Leota was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Marvin, a sister, Leora Knopik, and a grandson, Joseph Stauss.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in Leota's name to the Audubon Society in Stevens Point.
Leota's family would like to thank Compassus Hospice for the care given to her, even though it was for just a short time. They would also like to thank Shuda Funeral Home for their help during a difficult time of loss.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Bronislava Catholic Church - 3200 Plover Road, Plover, WI. Rev. Edward Shuttleworth will officiate. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will take place at St. Bronislava Parish Cemetery at a later date.

How the heck do I pronounce her name? Just thinking of Leota a few days ago; learned I lost another coworker from St. Michael´s lab. And on a personal note January 31st was the 24th anniversary of my mom´s passing! Rest in peace, Leota, we know where you are

Leota was such a wonderful person to work with. She was always happy and never complained. Her soft bedside manner was a comfort to all she took care of. She touched many lives. She will be missed by all.
My condolences to Ray and all her family

What a shock to learn of Leota´s passing, a short time ago I inquired with a family member how she was doing. She was a great co-worker with a gentle spirit and warm heart. To the Kudrna family: stay strong and focus on all your loving memories!

I had the pleasure of working with Leota on the night shift at River Pines. She was an amazing woman and had a heart of gold. Her kind heart and gentle touch made her one of kind. I'm so glad I got the chance to talk to her right before Christmas as I hadn't seen her in many years. I will always remember the sparkle in her eyes when she would talk about her family and how much she loved each and every one of them.

My condolences to the family and may the lord guide you through this difficult time.
