Leroy Alan Beardwood, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta, surrounded by his loving family. He was 82 years old. Born on December 29, 1942, in Welland, Ontario, Leroy grew up in in Fonthill, Ontario. Leroy lived a life characterized by hard work, dedication, and a deep love for his family.
Leroy spent an impressive 35 years of his career working at General Motors in St. Catherine's, Ontario, where he established a reputation as a reliable and hardworking team member. In 2014, Leroy and his high school sweetheart, Dorothy, made the significant move to Cochrane, Alberta, to be closer to their family. This transition brought them joy as they embraced the beauty of the west and formed many lasting friendships along the way.
In addition to his professional life, Leroy had varied interests that enriched his retirement years. He enjoyed traveling extensively with Dorothy and cherished the moments spent fishing and hunting with his buddies. His adventurous spirit and zest for life were palpable, making every moment a celebration.
Leroy is survived by his dear wife Dorothy, who was by his side throughout their journey together. He leaves behind two sons: Mark (Megan) and grandchildren Sage and Cash of Canmore; and Micheal (Guylaine) and daughters Emily and Anna, also of Canmore. Leroy's family extends to his siblings, brother Jerry (Sue) and sister Linda (Ken), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends who will remember him fondly.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Marie, and his brother Richard. His legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Friday August 22, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at All Saints Anglican Church, located at 404 - 4th Avenue North, Cochrane, AB, T4C 1E4. The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday August 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at All Saints Anglican Church.
Leroy braved Pulmonary Fibrosis for several years. Donations to Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated.
In embracing the gift of family and friendship, Leroy's spirit will continue to inspire all who were touched by his warmth and unwavering love.
