Vera Turner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cochrane Country Funeral Home (Cochrane Funeral Service Inc.) on Feb. 18, 2026.

Vera Margaret Turner, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, in Calgary, Alberta, with her loving family by her side. Born on July 3, 1936, in Cold Lake, Alberta, Vera led a life full of warmth, kindness, and passion.

Vera dedicated many years to her thriving men's hairstyling salon, where she became a cherished figure in her community before retiring. Her career was not just a means of livelihood but a testament to her devotion to her craft and the relationships she built with her clients.

Known for her fierce spirit, Vera took joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed a good game of cards, often taking on competitors with gusto, and was known to light up the dance floor with her moves. Attending garage sales and exploring antique auctions were also among her hobbies that brought her great happiness.

Her legacy lives on through her daughters, Beverley Turner of Edmonton, AB, and Leslie Fysh (Gerry) of Cochrane, AB, and her son Ross Turner (Maria) of Kamloops, BC. Vera was also a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and a great-grandmother to nineteen great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Vera is survived by her siblings, Ladele Minifie (Wayne Marsh) of Airdrie, AB. She is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Carl Rollison, as well as her three brothers, Marvin, Ed, and Lyle, and her sister Linda.

A Graveside Service will be held on February 24, 2026, at 11:30 AM at the Cochrane Cemetery. Following this, a Celebration of Life will take place at Cochrane Alliance Church, beginning at 1:00 PM at 902 Glenbow Drive, Cochrane, AB.

Vera’s vibrant spirit and love for her family will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will continue to inspire and nurture the hearts of those she leaves behind.
