Leroy married Jean Diesen (nee Eversgerd) on June 16, 1972, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown and she survives in Germantown.
In addition to his wife, Leroy is survived by his children, Carl (Loni Middendorff) Diesen of Germantown and Anna Followell of Keyesport; grandchildren, Aidan Diesen, Jazmyn Diesen, Gavyn (special friend, Marissa Schubert) Followell, Gage (special friend, Lillian Inman) Followell, Fisher Bast, and Graci Bast; great-grandson, Noah Mathis; sisters, Helen Wuebbles of Germantown and JoAnn (Gene) Gebke of Bartelso; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sue Diesen of Jacksonville, FL, Jane Diesen of Germantown, Betty Diesen of Germantown, Joseph (Gayle) Eversgerd of Breese, Bobby (Blanche Drake) Eversgerd of Germantown, and Burt (Lisa) Eversgerd of Germantown; and numerous nieces and nephews
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Dolores (Harold "Butch") Lohman, Elmer "Drake" (Jenny) Diesen, Bob Diesen, Walter "Skip" Diesen, Ervin Diesen, and Edna Diesen in infancy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Helen (nee Quinn) Eversgerd; and brothers-in-law, Eugene Wuebbles and Lester "Scuddles" Eversgerd.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Leroy served his country from 1971-1975. After attending Belleville Barber College, he opened Leroy's ("Be Right Back ") Barber Shop in Germantown, where he became a fixture in the community. His contributions extended far beyond his business, Leroy was a dedicated member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, served as past commander and caretaker of the Germantown American Legion Post 325, where he was a member for over 50 years, and was a charter member of the Germantown Kernel Nut Club. He also served on the St. Boniface Cemetery Committee, past bar chairman of the Spassfest, volunteered with Boy Scouts frying fish, and was member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 269.
Leroy had a passion for fishing, was a master turtle hunter, and was a Stag Beer enthusiast. Known for his culinary talents, Leroy was famous for his fried chicken, fish, award-winning coleslaw, and of course Leroy's Dressing. His love of cooking often found him helping his sister, Helen, with catering. He also enjoyed playing cards, watching birds, tending to his flowers, and golfing in couples league, but his greatest joy in life was his family.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. Thomas Lugge and Fr. James Buerster concelebrating. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery with military honors accorded.
