Earl Martin LeRoy Driskell, a funny, friendly, and magical man, passed away on November 2, 2024. He was born on April 28, 1958 to Carmen Almanza and Jack Driskell in Vicenza, Italy and was raised between Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico and Peoria, IL.
LeRoy had many homes, the longest of which was Chicago, IL. During his 20 years there, LeRoy raised his children, Annakarina and Leea, with a deep sense of commitment to helping others in their community. While he was a man of few words, he was one of great action. He established himself as a pillar through his deep friendships, business ventures, and volunteer efforts. He loved kids and found great joy in giving back to others through magic shows as the “Mago Sin Pago” as well as annual visits as Santa Claus, giving away toys and spreading joy.
In 2007, LeRoy met his amor, Tirza Driskell, while on a cruise celebrating with his family. They built a beautiful and loving home together and dedicated much of their time to their families, traveling frequently to Parral, Chihuahua and Sayulita, Mexico during their 15 years together. LeRoy cherished his time with his wife and dog, Hachi deeply.
LeRoy was entrepreneurial and loved his work, leading him to success running a travel agency, opening his successful restaurant, Taylor Street Taco Grill, and finally establishing Kingdom Roofing. There was nothing that he couldn’t learn or do. LeRoy took great pride in being a fixer and was always the first to offer to help others learn a skill or accomplish a challenge.
LeRoy was a friend to all and leaves all those who knew him with memories filled with joy and laughter. LeRoy is predeceased by his parents, Charles “Jack” Driskell and Carmen Villarreal. He is survived and remembered by: Tirza Driskell (wife); Leea Driskell (daughter); Annakarina Otterbein-Garcia (Daughter); Anna Otterbein-Garcia (daughter-in-law); Anna Irene Mier (sister); Wiley Driskell (brother); and his nieces, nephews, and other family who held him close.
