Leroy F. Gavin

It is with great sadness we would like to share the passing of Leroy Frederick Gavin, 91, of Dearborn Heights, MI, on February 4, 2026.

Born March 5, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, to Fred and Clara Gavin, Leroy graduated from Detroit Mackenzie High School before enrolling in trade school. He discovered his calling in carpet installation. This soon became a lifelong passion, leading him to start his own business, 3G's Carpet, where he employed his relatives, children, and many family friends along the way. Leroy stayed active throughout his life, enjoying spending time outdoors in Cadillac, Michigan— golfing, boating, fishing, snowmobiling, and maintaining his dearest cabin.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Marilyn, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage; beloved children Gayle, Lee, and Gary (Mary); his cherished grandchildren Justin, Jordan, and Jared; and his adored great-grandchild Colette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Clara, and his brothers Donald, Gerald, and Marvin.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, from 2-8 PM, with a Funeral service to follow on Tuesday, February 10, (friends and family to gather at 10:30 AM until time of service at 11:30 AM). Visitation and service will be held at the John N. Santeiu Funeral Home (1139 Inkster Rd, Garden City, MI 48135). 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center Philanthropic Support Fund.
