Leroy James Justice, age seven, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025, after sharing Thanksgiving Day surrounded by his family.
Leroy, the son of Kevin James and Wendy Jo Hertzog Justice, was born in Boyle County on December 27, 2017. Known as a smart and resilient child, he graduated from Madison Kindergarten Academy and was a second-grade student at White Hall Elementary School. His favorite sport was T-ball and he enjoyed playing with the Richmond Little League.
After an abrupt diagnosis of DIPG in June 2025, Leroy was able to have some wonderful moments and memories with his family as they experienced new adventures together. On August 9, 2025, he was enrolled as a Junior Soldier of The Salvation Army Church where his parents pastor. Commissioners Kelly and Donna Igleheart led this service. As a special part of the ceremony, he was prayed over by the worldwide general of The Salvation Army, General Lyndon Buckingham, who was present.
Whether at church or driving down the road with his family, Leroy's joy-filled-love for singing was clear for all to hear. Even on the hard days, he could be found "jamming out" to Forrest Frank's song Good Day. What resilience! And, like many boys with big dreams, he often talked about serving on a SWAT team like his idol, Shamar Moore, or with the FBI one day – this was his true passion!
In addition to his parents, Leroy is survived by his brothers: Robert Ernest Justice, Lucas Charles Justice and Jaiclee Edward Justice; his three step-siblings: Denasia Denny (and her fiancé Jassiem), Jasmine Wright and Jaleel Harris; his paternal grandparents: Charles and Linda Sutton Justice, his maternal grandparents: Terry & Barbara Trump Hertzog, his paternal great great-grandmother: Catherine Shockley Sutton, four aunts: Lucinda Justice, Louise (& James) Johnson, Ruby (& Jeff) Ingram and Ashley (& Joey) Lentz, two uncles: Brian (& Corrine) Justice and Rickie (& Christy) Smith, his godparents: Majors Aaron and Rebekah Abram, his god sisters: Alexis Abram and Alesia Abram, one god brother: Alexander Abram and numerous great aunts and uncles and cousins whom he cherished dearly.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Eastside Community Church, 2010 Catalpa Loop, Richmond.
The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday at the church with Major Aaron Abram and Major Alegerome Newsome officiating. The funeral will also be livestreamed at 1PM Saturday at www.cpcfh.com.
Private burial will follow.
