With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Leroy Norbert Morvant, who left this world peacefully on August 9, 2025, at the age of 89, in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home. Born on September 27, 1935, in Evangeline, Louisiana, Leroy was a devoted father, a cherished brother, and a beloved business owner who made a lasting impact on those around him.
Residing in Jennings, Louisiana, Leroy enjoyed a fulfilling life and legacy. He was proud to serve in the United States Army, enlisting on May 11, 1954, and achieving the rank of Private First Class (T) before his honorable discharge on April 26, 1956. His indomitable spirit and dedication to his country were qualities that defined him throughout his life.
He was the owner and operator of Jennings Body Shop, serving the community for many years, which he eventually retired from. After his retirement from there, he worked for Jennings Mosquito Control for several years. Leroy was a diehard Saints fan and enjoyed cheering them on with his family. He faced life's challenges with dignity and warmth, attributes that were reflected in his love for family and friends.
Leroy is survived by his daughter, Jovita (Kenny) Rice; his sons, Alcee (Amanda) Morvant and Norbert (Ethel) Morvant; his beloved grandchildren, Keeley Rice and Devon Morvant; his great-grandchild, Sabastian Morvant; his sister, Myrna, and brothers Gilton (Linda) and Junior Morvant, who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Leroy's kindness, gentle spirit, and laughter will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. As we celebrate his life and legacy, we invite family and friends to join us to celebrate his life, honoring his memory.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday August 13, 2025, in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel, starting at 10:00 am and will continue until the time of service.
Services will be held in the chapel the same day beginning at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Aaron Trahan officiating. He will be laid to rest next to wife in Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors for his dedication to our country, under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Leroy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Istre Morvant; his parents, Etienne Morvant and Savannah Morvant; and his brothers, Robert Morvant, Elton Morvant.
The family would like to share their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home and Heart of Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they have given to Leroy.
