Leroy Celestino Ramirez, 88, of Brighton, Colorado, passed away on July 4th 2023, after a long and beautiful life..
Leroy was born on May 1, 1935 to Valentine and Genevieve Ramirez in Henderson, Colorado. After Leroy finished elementary school he went on to work to help his family. He had many jobs throughout his life including the arsenal, Conoco, Natkin Company to name just a few. He was a hard worker at a very young age. In 1956, he joined the U.S. Army and spent most of his time in Germany. In 1955 Val's Standard Service Station opened. Later, the station was converted to a restaurant. When Leroy retired in 1985, he took over the restaurant and it became more popularly known as Val's Cafe.
After leaving the military, six years later he met his wife Lucy Abeyta. They married on January 19, 1963. They went on to have three daughters Tina Garcia, Karen Mayfield and Christina Villarreal. They lived their life on North 7th in Brighton, Colorado where he spent his time tinkering, selling beans, visiting New Mexico and visiting with friends in one of his favorite places; his porch.
Leroy was preceded in death by His mother and father Genevieve and Valentine Ramirez, Brother Valentine Ernesto Ramirez Jr, Sister Mary Cecelia (CC) and Richard Gabaldon, Son in law Mark W Garcia. He is survived by daughters Tina Garcia (Abigay Tijerina), Karen and Richard Mayfield Jr., Chrisitna and Ricardo Villarreal, Son Eugene Duran. Grandchildren; Melissa and Matthew Pacheco, Mark Garcia, Tiana Garcia (Michael Pena),Joseph Garcia, Kathryn Mayfield, Kayla Mayfield, Karlee Mayfield (Juan Covarrubias), Richard Mayfield (Julia Sloan), Karyssa Mayfield (Tyler Jones), David and Samara Ramirez, Ricardo Villarreal and 16 Great grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings: Stella (Pat) Espinoza, Viola Morales, Marcella (Ray) Martinez, Rudy Ramirez, Londy (Gilda) Ramirez, Berlinda Vigil and Rosalie Espinoza.
