LeRoy E. Wallman

July 30, 1943 - September 16, 2025

LeRoy E. Wallman, 82, of Adams, passed away Tuesday morning, September 16, 2025, at the Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams. He was born on July 30, 1943, at the Lutheran Hospital in Beatrice to Ehme and Grace (Meints) Wallman. LeRoy grew up on a farm near Cortland and was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Pickrell. He attended Sunnyside District 72 country school and graduated from Cortland High School in 1960. Following high school, LeRoy began farming and often helped neighbors with hay and other odd jobs. In 1963, he joined the National Guard. The next year, he married Alyce Leners at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Pickrell, and together they made their home on a farm near Adams. LeRoy was an active member of the American Lutheran Church of Adams, where he served two years on the church council. He was currently a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Sterling where he also served on the church council. He was also involved in his community, serving on the Adams Township Board, the Farm Agency County Committee for 12 years, and working part-time as a carpenter on farm buildings. LeRoy was a proud and faithful donor to the American Red Cross.

Survivors include his daughter, Jodi (Dan) Nelson of Lincoln; son, Jason Wallman of Adams; grandsons, Janssen and fiancée Olivia Kirchhoff, Aden Nelson; sister, Janice Jurgens of Adams; brothers, Harlan Wallman, and Donovan (Hope) Wallman of Cortland; special friend, Ruth Buss of Sterling; along with nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ehme and Grace (Meints) Wallman; wife, Alyce, who passed away on April 13, 2023; parents-in-law, Renken and Marie (Fisser) Leners; sister-in-law, Marlene LeSuer; brothers-in-law, Lenhart (Loni) Leners and Ernest Jurgens; and niece, Debbie LeSuer; aunt, Amanda Leners.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling with Pastor Dennis Reich officiating. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery of Adams with military rites conducted by the Adams Color Guard and the Nebraska Army National Guard Honor Guard. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. The body will lie in state on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family greeting friends and relatives from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home of Adams. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to St. John Lutheran Church of Sterling with Omer Kuhlmann and Orvin Miller in charge. www.foxfuneralhome.net.
