Lerry Herran Obituary
Lerry Alfonso Herran, 57, of Belleville, IL, born August 11, 1966, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024, at his residence.
Lerry, a dedicated and adventurous soul, left behind a legacy of service, love, and laughter. His journey began with a humble start after graduating from high school in 1986, after which he joined the Coast Guard in 1990. Serving as a cook on various Coast Guard Cutters and buoy tenders, Lerry traveled far and wide, stationed in bustling cities like New York and Boston, as well as exotic locales like Puerto Rico, Guam, and Alaska. His culinary skills brought comfort and sustenance to countless crew members during their deployments.
Retiring in 2014, Lerry's adventurous spirit led him to start "Lerry's Lunch Box" in Kodiak, Alaska, followed by years of RV travels, where he devoted time to caring for his older sister in Phoenix and visiting cherished family members. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace in fishing and hunting, always happiest when surrounded by the laughter of nieces and nephews. Lerry had a deep affection for his dogs, first his beloved Buddy and then, more recently, Huckleberry. Finally settling in Illinois in 2021, Lerry found joy in being close to family, relishing in weekly gatherings and the warmth of companionship. His kind heart, sarcasm, adventurous spirit, sense of humor and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Lerry is preceded in death by his mother, Clarisa Orellana De Herran; and his sister, Wyrla Herran.
Surviving Lerry are his father and stepmother, Enrique and Elena Herran of AZ; three siblings, Andres (Bethany) Herran of IL, Clara Herran of CA, Maria-Elena Herran of AZ; and six nieces and nephews, Marcelo Herran, Hennace Herran, Alize Herran, Joshua Herran, Zachary Herran, and Elliana Herran.
