Lesa Anne Pelfrey, 65, of
Okeechobee, Florida, previously of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, tragically passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from injuries sustained during a motor vehicle collision in Okeechobee.
She was born December 7, 1960 in
Owenton, Kentucky to the late Harold Pelfrey and Anna Barnett Pelfrey and was a 1977 graduate of Grant County High School.
Lesa had a successful sales career selling mobile homes, cars, and early internet advertising. Her family always said she could "sell you a pair of shoes you didn't need". Most recently, she was a dedicated volunteer at VFW Post 10539 Okeechobee.
Lesa had a zest for life that is unmatched. She was always on the go and lived in several different states, always preferring the warmer ones; Arizona was her favorite. Lesa enjoyed traveling - for work and pleasure - and she never met a stranger along the way. She made friends and a lasting impression everywhere she went.
Anyone who ever encountered her will remember her contagious laugh and big energy; the life of the party.
Lesa was rarely without Ellie Mae, her black goldendoodle, who was a constant, loyal companion to her. Often, she said she didn't know that she could love a dog so much. Ellie was with her when she passed.
Lesa was a wonderful cook and few things brought her the joy that she found cooking for large groups whether it be family dinners or dinner specials at the VFW. She was an avid shopper and loved a good bargain.
But most importantly, Lesa loved her family and friends. She loved to travel with them, cook for them, and shop for them. Lesa will be remembered as a caring friend, mother, Nana, sister, niece, and, to many "Aunt Lesa" whether she was their aunt or not.
Lesa was preceded in death by her sister, Joni Dee Pelfrey. She is survived by one son, Eric West; four grandchildren, Derick Cipollone, Rebecca West, Owen West, and Adalyn Rose Brauer West; her brother, Billy Ray Pelfrey (Bobbie Jo), and her sisters, Jenna Pelfrey Mahan and Cheyenne (Brandon) Poe; nephews, Greg (Tracy) Souder, and Dillon Pelfrey; nieces, Jessica (Paul) Vincent, Rebecca (Jeremy) Preston, Paisley Pelfrey Yazell Kenleigh, and Iris Poe; several aunts and uncles; many cousins; and her dog, Ellie Mae.
Ellie will now live with friends in Kentucky, arrangements Lesa had in place "just in case".
The family will receive friends at Revive Church in Dry Ridge on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 4-6 pm. A memorial service will begin at 6 pm followed by a meal. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 am Saturday, February 28, 2026 at VFW Post 10539 in Okeechobee.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Grant County Animal Shelter in
Williamstown, Kentucky or VFW Post 10539 in
Okeechobee, Florida.
