Leslie Chamblee Obituary

Leslie René Chamblee
July 18, 1973 – December 29, 2023
Leslie René Chamblee of Opelika, Alabama, went home to Jesus on December 29, 2023, at the young age of 50 after a two-and-a-half year battle with cancer.
Leslie was born to William and Connie Peterson on July 18,1973 in Monroe, Wisconsin, second among four children born into an Air Force family. Leslie mainly grew up in Louisiana and spent holidays with family in Brodhead, Wisconsin. She was the protector of the family and very much a tomboy. She loved playing softball and watching her dad play in the adult leagues. The three girls were known for putting on a concert in the kitchen every day while doing dishes. Leslie graduated from Gwinn High School in upper Michigan.
Leslie met her husband, Steve, at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base while in Michigan in 1993. They married in 1996 and went on to have three children together: Kyra, Cameron, and Dakota. Most of her life after marrying was lived in Opelika, Alabama, where she raised her kids full-time before rejoining the workforce later in life as the children got older.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Leslie was a caregiver in many work roles in both Wisconsin and Alabama. She loved her special friend Ty at the Dungarvin supported living center in Janesville, and she visited him each time she traveled back home. Leslie was a certified nurse assistant and enjoyed taking care of others around her. She held multiple positions in different hospitals over the years.
Leslie is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Robert and Mary Peterson, and is survived by many: husband, Steven Chamblee; children, Kyra (Jordan) Price, Cameron Chamblee, and Dakota Chamblee; step-children, Tara Chamblee, Chris Chamblee, and Elizabeth Chamblee; five grandchildren and step-grandchildren; siblings, Karla (Bobby) Jurado, Audra (Philip) Anderson, and Billy Peterson; parents, William and Connie Peterson; and grandparents, Calvin and Jean Wickline.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are sent to the EAMC Spencer Cancer Center in honor of Leslie. When we met in 1993 at the NCO club. What we didn't know was how our relationship ended up as.
I have a lifetime of memories with and of her.
When our children were born. She made me smile all the time. I will always remember her smile and sparkling blue eyes. There are way to many experiences to share. We enjoyed spending time together. We shared everything together. Our youngest daughter playing softball. We played on coed teams early in our relationship. Now we get to enjoy the sport again as Elizabeth plays softball. Early in our relationship we were horsing around and I put her over my shoulder then my mom screams at me and says don't you drop her. As Leslie was squirming to get down we slipped and I dropped her on her head. Lol. Lots of special moments. Hard work and dedication, communication and willingness to compromise.
This here is a near perfect of a woman who had ups and downs in her lifetime and I am glad that I got to spend 31 years of her life with her.
I love you Leslie Rene,
No words can ever explain the love I have for you.
