Leslie "David" Florida, Age 72, of Laingsburg, passed away peacefully at his home on September 29, 2025. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held.
David was born on October 16, 1952, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, to Leslie Gene and Rachel E. (Graves) Florida.
David was a proud graduate of Perry High School and he went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. After his military service, David embarked on a career at Boeing, where he demonstrated his skill and precision as an electronic circuit welder, a role he held with great pride for many years.
Laingsburg became David's home for over 25 years. He was a man of few words but many talents. David's work ethic and his ability to fix almost anything made him a valued colleague and a dependable friend.
David, being a private person, cherishing the moments he spent with his family. Though he enjoyed the quietude of his personal life, his warmth did show through during family gatherings. He enjoyed playing chess with others and won most of the time.
He is survived by his loving mother, Rachel; his uncle Ernie (Carol) Graves; aunt Glenda (Ken) Heneger; and several cousins, aunts, and uncles. David was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Gene Florida; his brother, Linn Florida; and several aunts and uncles. His family takes comfort in knowing that David has been reunited with his beloved father and brother.
