Eleanor Ruth Florida, age 87 passed away on January 27, 2026 at Complete Care of Burlington Woods, Burlington, NJ.

Ruth was born in Nutter Fort, West Virginia, on April 21, 1938. She was the sixth of seven children. Her family moved to New Castle, Pennsylvania at a young age and she grew up in New Castle, graduating from New Castle High School in 1956. After graduating High School, she worked for the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. Upon his return from the Navy, she married the love of her life, Donald Edward Florida, on July 25, 1959. Her daughter, Tammy, was born in 1960. In 1962 her young family moved to Burlington, NJ. The following year, 1963, her son, David, was born.

Ruth worked outside the home for several years while raising her family. She worked for United Aero Products in Burlington New Jersey as their receptionist in the 1970's. She worked for Inductotherm Inc. as a receptionist and sales clerk from 1980 until she retired in 2003.

Once her children were grown, Ruth and her husband, Ed, downsized to Edgewater Park, NJ, and in 2010 they moved to Maple Shade, NJ, where she spent her retirement years. After living with her daughter in Moorestown, NJ for a short time, Ruth lived the final years of her life battling dementia, living the past 7 years at Complete Care of Burlington Woods in Burlington, NJ, where she was lovingly cared for by both the facility and Suncrest Hospice.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Edward Florida; her parents, Benjamin Franklin Saas and Clelia Violet Ash Saas; brothers James Raymond Saas, George D. Saas and Richard Lawrence Saas; sisters Dorothy Colston and Phyllis Sturgis; and her son, David Edward Florida.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Frank) Woolman as well as her daughter-in-law Shari Florida, her sister Nancy (Saas) Steeves, her sister-in-law Joan Saas, many nieces and nephews as well as her six grandchildren: David (Jennifer) Maver, Andrew Maver, Katharine Maver, Elizabeth Maver, Sarissa (Chris) Rupert, and Shelby (Zachary) Moon and her great granddaughter, Olivia Rose Maver. Ruth loved all of her grandchildren and was very proud of each and every one of them. She was happiest when they visited.

Ruth had a great love for God, her church and her family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 11 AM at the Beverly United Methodist Church, 133 Warren St., Beverly NJ 08010.

The internment will take place privately at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ 08077.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Beverly United Methodist Church.
