In Loving Memory
May 4, 1946 – July 14, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leslie (Les) Paul Mahn Jr., who left this world peacefully on July 14, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Les was 79 years old.
Born in Chicago on May 4, 1946, to his beloved parents, Bernice Mahn and Leslie P. Mahn Sr., Les lived a life defined by integrity, generosity, and quiet strength. A devoted family man, loyal friend, Marine Corps Vietnam veteran, and proud union electrician, he touched the lives of many with his warmth, laughter, and easygoing charm.
Les had a deep appreciation for life's simple joys-cheering on the Cubs, breakfast outings with his wife, hitting the golf course, spending time with his buddies, and trying his luck – while he didn't always win, he sure had fun trying. He found happiness in good company, shared stories, and the everyday moments that made life meaningful. Les always knew how to show up for the people he cared about. He especially cherished time with his grandchildren-never missing a school or sporting event, and always cheering the loudest with pride.
Above all, Les treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Leslie C. Mahn; his children, Michelle (John), Amy (Scott), and Michael (Jennifer); his sister, Geraldine (Robert); and his six adored grandchildren: Grant, Mason, Ethan, Madelyn, Owen, and Caden-who will continue to honor "Poppy's" legacy by living with the same kindness, humility, and heart that he exemplified every day.
A celebration of Les's life will be held on Saturday, July 19, at Makray Memorial Golf Club from 1:00 to 4:30 PM, where family and friends will gather to share memories and celebrate his remarkable life.
Les will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
