Leslie Carol (nee Schorling) Mazzarella, age 78, born December 25, 1947, of Sidney and Lodi, New York, passed away on February 6, 2026. Leslie lived a life grounded in love, nature, and routine, with her memory carried on by those who loved her.
Leslie is survived by her son, John (Mary) Moore II, and her cherished grandchildren, Meghan and John, who were the pride and joy of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Gail (Richard) Findley, whose granddaughter, Elizabeth, held a very special place in Leslie’s heart, and by another sister, Lynn Pratt. In addition, Leslie leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Leslie was preceded in death by her mother, Lily; her sister, Jackie; and her husband, Nicholas Mazzarella, who passed in 2011.
Leslie was a longtime member of the Ovid VFW Post 6200 alongside her husband, where she devoted many years to running Thursday night bingo - creating not just games, but community and connection. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: her daily morning walks, sitting on the front porch with loved ones and neighbors, playing cards, country music, dancing with her sisters, quiet evenings watching her TV shows, monthly manicures and pedicures, a hot cup of English rose tea, pontoon boat rides, and watching peaceful sunsets over Seneca Lake at her home near Lodi Point.
Though she had lost her memory over time, the memory of Leslie will forever live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. She will be remembered for her love of the quiet joys she embraced every day. May it bring comfort to know that her suffering has ended, and she is now at peace.
In accordance with her wishes, the family will host a Celebration of Life in the Summer of 2026. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Leslie’s memory to the Ovid VFW Post 6200 Auxiliary, PO Box 1, Ovid, NY 14521.
