Leslie M. Rupell, fondly known as "Les," passed away on September 16, 2025, in Doylestown, PA, at the age of 92. Born on June 11, 1933, in Somerville, NJ, Les lived a life dedicated to service and community, exemplified by his career and personal pursuits.

For over 35 years, Les contributed significantly to the safety and well-being of others while working for the former Union Carbide (now Dow Chemical), where he retired as the Personnel Safety Director and Distribution Coordinator. His commitment to safety led him to receive numerous awards that recognized his exemplary performance in the field. In addition to his professional feats, he was a respected member of the Flemington community. In 1964, he joined the Hook and Ladder Company of the Flemington Fire Department, serving for many years and becoming an integral part of local emergency services.

A graduate of Clinton High School in Clinton, NJ, Les continued his education at Rider College in Lawrenceville, NJ. He went on to serve his country for four years in the United States Air Force, with tours that took him to Tripoli, North Africa, Turkey, Lebanon, and ultimately to the Pentagon, culminating in the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Les was known for his lively personality and genuine sociability. Nicknamed “Wheels” due to his love for driving, he delighted in his daily routines, including making his beloved breakfast of three eggs, bacon, and waffles. A big sports fan, he cherished his time watching the Philadelphia Eagles and enjoyed playing golf. With his beloved wife, Betty, he was passionate about country line dancing and traveled extensively, visiting places such as Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Hawaii, the Bahamas, Italy, and the Grand Canyon, along with camping adventures throughout the United States. Les’s love for competition extended to bowling leagues in Pennsylvania, where he again thrived in community engagement.

Les is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Joan (Tolischus) Rupell; his daughters, Lisa Blue of Doylestown, PA, and Linda Greif and son-in-law, Brian Greif of Texas City, TX; and his seven grandchildren, Jessica, Todd, Anna, Kevin, Cayla, Avery, and Mackenzie. Furthermore, he was the proud grandfather to eleven great-grandchildren: Nathan, Olivia, Camryn, Darius, Isabel, Jodie, Elijah, Gavin, Greyson, Jennilyn, and Julian, as well as one great-great granddaughter, June.

Les is preceded in death by his father, Leslie Reading Rupell, and his mother, Laura (nee Ort) Rupell.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home located at 147 Main St, Flemington, NJ, 08822.
