Leslie R. Standing passed away on September 27, 2025 at the Physicians Hospital in Anadarko, OK. Leslie was born May 27, 1944 to Lawrence and Eleanor (Caruth) Standing in Lawton, OK. He graduated from Gracemont High School. He was united in marriage to Mary Prince Standing for over 30 years. Leslie served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1971.
He served as Vice-President and/or President of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes during the 1980's and as President in 2008 -2012. Leslie was a member of the Rock Spring Indian Baptist Church. He was a avid OU fan. He retired from Housekeeping Supervisor at the Lawton Indian Hospital. He enjoyed watching old western movies, going to the casino and spending time with family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, adopted granddaughter Allyssia French Standing. Grandchildren: Mikah Bedford and Marquale Bedford, Alaysha French, Chandra Sharee Berryhill, Sister Linda Standing Johnson, Brother Charles Stephenson
Survivors include his wife, Mary Standing, Gracemont, OK
Sons: Lonnie George Standing, Gracemont, OK
Jerome Standing, Anadarko, OK
Lenwood French, Gracemont, OK
Daughters: Mamie Wildcat, Fort Gibson, OK
Melissa Hargrove, Verden, OK
Grandchildren: Magen Barnoskie, Jerome Wildcat, Luman Wildcat III, Anthony Lee Wildcat Jr., Rider Wildcat, Jerome Chester Standing, Leslie Laurence Standing and Micheal Hood
