Lester Core Obituary
May 12, 1946 - February 26, 2025
Mr. Lester Core, age 78, of Munster, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025. A devoted husband, cherished brother, and beloved uncle, he leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and dedication to family and community.
Lester was a proud graduate of Gavit High School's inaugural class in 1964 and went on to earn his degree from the School of Business at Indiana University in 1968. He further distinguished himself by obtaining his CPA from the American Certified Public Accountant Institute at the University of Illinois in 1974, marking the beginning of a successful and respected career in accounting.
Above all, Lester was a man of unwavering devotion to his family. He shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carol Core, whose love and support enriched his life immeasurably. He is also survived by his sisters, Janet (Joel) Hochman and Pamela Boll; his brother, Jimmy (Denise) Core; his sister-in-law, Alice (David) Clatterbuck; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Clifton Core; his sister, Patricia Core; brother-in-law, David Forsberg; sister-in-law, Diane (Al) Fraser; and great-nephew, Brandon Fraser.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lester's life at Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, Indiana, on Friday, March 7, 2025. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral services from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Scott Mauck. He will be laid to rest at Ridgelawn Cemetery, 4401 West Ridge Road, Gary, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in honor of Lester's memory. May his kindness, wisdom, and love continue to inspire all who knew him.

Met up with Lester in Middle School, became friends and stayed in touch throughout his life to enjoy his genuine love, sharing and laughter together with his very best friend- Carol. We'll all miss Lester but will hold onto many great times together.

Just heard about Lester's passing. We were friends from 3rd grade into college. I am saddened by this news. Carol my condolences. I know you must be hurting. It's an old saying but true "Time heals all wounds." I remember you as a strong, caring and loving lady with a beautiful smile. Take comfort in your memories they will warm your heart and eventually lift your spirits. Fifty+ years is a long time not easily forgotten but time will heal your pain and do not lose your sweet smile.

Lester was a talented fellow executive at Landauer, a person who took the time to understand and explain things that truly helped the company grow. He enjoyed his wife´s coaching career attending many events with her.,he enjoyed golfing and shared stories about his brother in laws car collection. So sorry to hear about your loss. Worked with Lester for many years, my daughter always referred to him as "Uncle Lester" when she was small and would come to work with me on a Saturday. He was a wonderful man and will be missed.
