Goldsboro - Lester Gore Forehand, Jr., 86, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family. Lester was born in Wayne County, NC on March 13, 1926, to the late Lester Gore Forehand, Sr. and Eula Howell Forehand. He was married to the late Dorothy Gurley Forehand. A veteran of World War II, Lester served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. He was a self-employed general contractor and masonry contractor. Lester was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and was a founding member, past board member and officer of the Belfast Volunteer Fire Department. He will be remembered for his love of God, family, fishing and the Belfast Fire Department. Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2012, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Sandy Schaller officiating. Interment will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday June 18, 2012 at Wayne Memorial Park. Lester is survived by his daughter, Lynne F. Johnson and husband, Al of Pikeville; his sons, Charles Lester Forehand of Greenville and Michael E. Forehand and wife, Diane of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, David Forehand, Jonathan Forehand and Candi Johnson; great grandchildren Chase Forehand and Bray Forehand; and special friends Fred and Myrtle Newcomb. In addition to his parents and wife, Lester was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Jackie Forehand; his sisters, Annabelle Wiggs, Kathleen F. Anderson and Ethel F. Dake; his brother, Jasper W. Forehand; his brothers-in-law, Carsey Wiggs and Bill Anderson; and sister-in-law Mabel Lewis Forehand. The family would like to acknowledge the loving compassion and care that was shown to Mr. Lester and his family by the caregivers of Countryside Village of Pikeville and Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or to Salem United Methodist Church, 2706 Salem Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
