Lester McCoy Freeman, affectionately known as "Peterhead," "Coy," and "PoPo," passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at the age of 71. He was born on November 19, 1953, in Lewiston, North Carolina, and made his home in Norfolk, Virginia.

Lester was a proud United States Veteran. After more than 35 years of dedicated and loyal service at the Norfolk Naval base, he honorably retired. Known for his easygoing nature and warm spirit, Lester had a smile that could light up any room. Many for his kindness, humor, and generosity loved him whether serving as everyone's favorite Uber driver or faithfully delivering the morning paper to his beloved mother.

Lester was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Cleo Freeman, and his sisters, Annie Marie Jenkins and Lettie Jane Askew.

Lester is survived by his devoted mother, Mollie Freeman of Norfolk, VA; his children, Chantina Metika Marsh, Dominic Lamar Freeman, LaNesha Freeman; his sisters, Wanda (Larry) Ferguson and Renaye Freeman, both of Chesapeake, VA; his brothers, Randolph (Michelle) Freeman of Minnesota, Johnnie Freeman, Jr. of Atlanta GA, and Kevin (Faith) Freeman of Norfolk, VA; along with three treasured grandchildren, Adam McCleland, Jr., Alexis Michelle Freeman, Noah Alexander-Lee Freeman, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Thanks to Lester's special and dear partner, Sharon Riddick, who was genuine, compassionate, and loving over the years.

He is also lovingly remembered by his devoted nephew, Linwood Freeman, who stood faithfully by his side. Many thanks from the family to both Sharon and Linwood for the gentle care given throughout his illness.

Lester's legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
