Lester Lyle Grames

Lester "Les" Lyle Grames, age 92, passed away May 10, 2025 in Jackson, Michigan. He was born November 23, 1932 in Lakefield, the son of Lewis and Velma (Caswell) Grames.
Les graduated from Lawrence Tech with a degree in Engineering, working most of his life in the water department of the city of Detroit. In addition to his city work, Les owned an apple orchard and ran a care home for many years, always dedicated to his community and family. He was known for his deep appreciation of quiet moments spent playing Solitaire, as well as indulging in his favorite television shows. He cherished outings with his wife, enjoying time with friends, and getting together with family on the second Friday of every month. A lover of simple pleasures, he found joy in riding his lawn tractor. He was also a proud member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Lisa, children; Raymond (Anissa) Grames, Nicole Kurtz, Nathan (Brandy) Kurtz, grandchildren; Makayla (Jack) Roberts, Taylor (Erika) Kurtz, Marty Roberts, Ashlynn (Belle) Kurtz, Katie Kurtz, Ali Adams, Sophia Kurtz, and Alyssa Kurtz, great grandchildren; Jack and Monte Pizano. Siblings; Floyd (Janet) Grames, Maxine (John) Holmberg, John Grames, and Dolores Fitzpatrick, in-laws; Tim (Kelly) Zantop, Steve (Robin) Zantop, Tom (Sue) Zantop, and Tina (Terry) Zantop. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Les is preceded in death by his parents, his son Rodney Grames, siblings; Malon Grames, Nellie Burns, and Kenny Grames, and his brother-in-law Walter Zantop.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
