Lester "Hal" Harold Melton, was born on November 7, 1938, in Nashville, TN. He departed this life on August 19, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, commitment, and unwavering dependability.

A devoted husband for over 65 years to his cherished wife, Claudette Melton, who preceded him in death as well as his son John C. Melton; sister Madeline M. Macmillan, and parents Lester Harris and Jessie Duncan Melton.

Hal was not just a loving husband but also a deeply devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Mary Melton; grandson, John (Ashley) Melton; granddaughter, Megan (Justin) Singleton; and great-grandson, Calvin Melton. Additionally, he leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, and many loved ones.

Hal's entrepreneurial spirit shone through when he began his career as a bail bondsman in 1982. With dedication, he successfully established two bail bonds companies, eventually selling them in 2015. He and Claudette created countless memories together during their years in the business, sharing stories of the many adventures they embarked on while working as bondsmen. From traveling to different states to apprehend bail jumpers to conducting late-night stakeouts and hunting down forfeits together, their bond grew stronger amidst the challenges they faced.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Hal served his country honorably in the Air Force, demonstrating the same stoic determination and sense of duty that marked all facets of his life. He was a remarkable individual who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His love for those around him was evident in the way he looked out for everyone in his life.

Hal found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was mowing the grass or spending time outdoors. He had a passion for collecting clocks and pocket watches. As a proud Shriner for over 39 years, he contributed his time and talent to noble causes, boasting a spirit of generosity that touched the lives of countless individuals.
