Lester Levi Kropf

Lester Levi Kropf, 90, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away on October 2, 2025. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Les was born on December 24, 1934, in Bloomington, Illinois. Raised on a farm south of Hopedale, Illinois, he grew up in the Amish-Mennonite Church and enjoyed a happy childhood filled with family, singing, horseback riding, and farm work.

While working a temporary job in Evanston, Illinois, Les met the love of his life, Sue Sanders of Elkhart, Indiana. They were married on June 29, 1957, moved to Greeley in 1970 and together they raised five daughters.

Although he would have loved to farm his entire life, Les worked over the years for NIBCO, Monfort Feedlots, and the Golden Aluminum Company as a heavy equipment operator, welder, and millwright.

He took great pleasure in restoring old cars, trucks, tractors, and Dietz lanterns. A hard worker through and through, he was known for his great sense of humor and his deep love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Simon and Ida (Martin) Kropf, sister Virginia (Robert) Hostetler, brother Earl Kropf, foster sister Barbara (Raymond) Kauffman and son-in-law Mike Roberts.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sue (Sanders) Kropf, 5 daughters: Kathleen Pederson (Gary) Chula Vista, CA, Paula Roberts, Cody, WY, Patricia McClees (Mark) Greeley, CO, Leslie Mundy (Al) Sequim, WA, and Marla Ortiz (Mike) Greeley, CO, sister-in-law Donna Kropf, Brownsville, OR, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 14th at 11:00am at Adamson Life Celebration Home 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Internment at Linn Grove Cemetery.
