Lester Ervin Prout Jr, 86, of Constantine, Michigan passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025, in a car accident. He was born on October 6, 1938, in Clinton, IN to the late Lester Ervin Prout Sr. and Charlotte Helen (Pugh) Prout.

Lester was a graduate of Mishawaka High School. He was married to Libby Ruth (Jester) Prout with whom he had 4 sons. He later married Dorothy (Ray) Prout who preceded him in death and with whom he had 2 daughters. Lester and Dorothy were married for 53 years. Lester was a veteran of The United States Air Force and the Army National Guard. Lester received a BA and MBA from Park University. He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and was an Eagle Scout. He liked to travel and was a jack of all trades building multiple houses for his family. Lester had been described as the life of the party, often breaking into song. Lester loved everything western such as movies, books, and music. Lester was a member of Church of Christ in Niles, MI. His most recent job was at Elkhart Central High school teaching English. And was a member of the Masonic Temple # 205 in Niles, Michigan

Lester was preceded in death by one son, Leif Allen Prout and one grandson, Zane Levi Ervin Hires. He is survived by two sisters, one brother, three sons, two daughters, thirteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon with funeral Service and celebration of life will begin at 12:00 Noon in Hahn Funeral Home 505 W. 8th Street Mishawaka, IN 46544. Graveside Services will be on Wednesday August 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Fort Custer National Cemetery 15501 Dickman Road Augusta, Michigan 49012. With Military Honors and burial to follow.
