Leta Louise Reeves entered into her Heavenly home on October 24, 2025 at the age of 84 just 10 days after her husband. She was born in Houston, TX on December 22, 1940 to J.C. and Leta Mae Colson. Leta was the oldest of 5, her siblings included: brothers James Curtis, Charles Ray, and sisters Cathy and Brenda. She graduated from Victoria High School in 1959 and went on to build a life she loved with the love of her life, James Samuel "Sam" Reeves. The two wed on December 12, 1959 and together they spent the next 65 years making memories and building a life and family they loved.
Leta was a wife, mother, grandmother (known as "mamaw") and friend. She was a Christian and always put God first. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They knew how to put a smile on her face, even on her worst days. She was a wonderful cook and baker and was an avid seamstress. She spent many days making dresses and other items for her daughter and grandchildren. She will be missed beyond words but there is comfort knowing she is with her husband once again.
Leta is survived by a son, Danny Wayne (Pamela) Reeves, her daughter Sherry Lynn (Darryl) Lynch, 8 grandchildren who she adored: Danelle (Sheldon) Heinold, Cody (Jennie) Reeves, Anton Reeves, Annie (Bryce) Clark, Spenser Lynch, Dalton (Nadine) Lynch, Preston Lynch, and Jenna (Dalton) Shafer, and 15 great-grandchildren: McKenzie Martinez, Blaine, Delainey, and Emmalynn Heinold, Jovie, Joliene, and Conley Reeves, Aiden and Aaron Reeves, Myles and Barrett Lynch, Parker and Piper Lynch, and Remi and Coy Shafer.
With great losses in this life, Leta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, James Samuel "Scott" Reeves; and a great-granddaughter, Mabry Lynn Shafer.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Twin Pines Nursing Home and Hospice of South Texas for their wonderful care.
A visitation for Leta and her husband, James Samuel "Sam" Reeves, will be held at Grace Funeral Home in Victoria, TX on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 10 am - 12 pm with a private graveside service for the family at a later date. Floral donations may be sent to Grace Funeral Home.
