LETA ANN THURSTON

Leta Ann Thurston, 23, formerly of Nicholson, PA was called home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2026. She is the daughter of the late Floyd Sr. and Evelyn Thurston.

Leta is survived by her siblings, Floyd Thurston Jr., Becky Thurston, Stacey (David) Shafer, Troy Thurston (Brittany), Gabby Thurston (Rafael), Fatima Thurston, and Jamar Thurston; nieces, Krystal, Kayla, and Karilee Thurston, Aaliyah and Serenity Shafer; nephews, James, Parker, Matthew, and Noah Shafer; great nephew, Jasper; great niece, Alicinda; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Leta was loved by many. She loved her zip up hoodie and rarely could be caught without one on. Her smile could light up any room she walked into. Leta's favorite activities included folding socks and hand towels, as well as having a girl's day out with her mom, sisters, and nieces. She found great joy in having her picture taken with others and especially selfies. Leta earned her diploma at the IU Learning Campus, Scranton, PA. Even though Leta was nonverbal, her presence left and impact on everyone she met. She was loved and supported by her paraprofessional, Marianne, teachers, support staff, and specialists all through school. She spent the last year of her life being supported by Keshia Brown, Beryl Matengo, Ramatu Mohamed, Visna Wallace, and Nikeisa Haywood with Everyday Community Resources. The family appreciates the love and steadfast support Leta has received from Everyday Community Resources and the IU Learning Campus community.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 16, 2026 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc. Spring interment will be made in Brookdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
