Leticia Flores Avila, 87, passed away peacefully in Salinas, California, surrounded by her loving family on October 11, 2025.

Leticia was born on October 29, 1937, in Coahuila, Mexico, to Esteban Flores and Viviana Gonzalez. In 1971, she moved to Monterey County, California, where she and her husband, Juan Gonzalez Avila, built a beautiful life together and raised six children: Israel, Isaac, Abraham, Anna, Daniel, and Peter. Married for 57 years, Leticia and Juan shared a deep and enduring bond rooted in faith, family, and love. Together, they were blessed with 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, all of whom affectionately knew her as "Mom." For the past 21 years, she made her home in Lockwood, California, where she remained surrounded by family.

Though Leticia had little formal education, she possessed immense wisdom, creativity, and resourcefulness. She had a natural gift for sewing, embroidery, crochet, and natural remedies, and she lovingly passed these skills on to her children and grandchildren. Her hands were always busy creating, healing, and caring for others, which she demonstrated through cooking and nurturing her grandchildren. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and delicious food, where others gathered, stories were shared, and memories were made.

Leticia and her husband were faithful churchgoers, attending Templo Bethania in Pajaro for many years and visiting congregations in King City, Salinas, and beyond, forming lifelong friendships wherever they went. She loved spending time with her husband visiting churches, taking road trips throughout Monterey County and surrounding regions, and reading the Bible each evening. Known for her warm humor and joyful spirit, Leticia continued sharing laughter and jokes up until the very end of her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Juan Gonzalez Avila, with whom she will be laid to rest at King City Cemetery; her parents, Esteban and Viviana; and her brother, David Flores. She is survived by her six children, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many others whose lives she touched and who will forever remember her as a loving, motherly figure.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Christ the Rock Church on N. Sanborn Road in Salinas, CA. Viewing will begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by a church service at 4:30 p.m., officiated by Pastor Eduardo Pastrano and Pastor Francisco Mendoza.

A second viewing will take place on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Eddington Funeral Services on 429 Bassett Street in King City, CA, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the King City Cemetery on 1010 Broadway Street in King City, CA, where Leticia will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.

Leticia's life was a beautiful testimony of love, faith, and family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed by her warmth, humor, hospitality, and unwavering devotion.
