Leva DeSanctis Obituary

Mrs. Leva DeSanctis, 88 of the Lakewood section of Pittsfield died Thursday, December 19, 2024. Born on March 2, 1936 in Turrivalignani, province of Pescara, Italy a daughter of the late Donato and Verina Mancini Orticelli. She attended Italian schools and immigrated to the United States on August 22, 1966.

Mrs. DeSanctis was a professional hairdresser and had worked for her late sister at Antonietta's Beauty Salon on East St. in Pittsfield for many years and had also worked for Peter's Cut Above on North St. She was a communicant of the former All Soul's Church and also attended St. Mark's Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren and family, gardening, sewing, crocheting and bowling. She also enjoyed visiting her son in Florida during the winter months.

She was the wife of Nicola DeSanctis whom she married in the church of Santo Stefano in Italy on January 22, 1956 he passed away on December 20, 1987.

She is survived by her daughter, Sylvana M. Bryan of Pittsfield, Two sons, Luciano E. DeSanctis of Jensen Beach, Florida and Paolo N. DeSanctis and his wife Heather of Voorheesville, New York. Four grandchildren, Nicholas DeSanctis, Alexander DeSanctis, Isabeau Bryan and Zoe DeSanctis. Four nephews, Rossano DeSanctis and his wife Sabine, Raul Petaccia, Paolo Breda and Elio DeSanctis. Two nieces, Stefania Koenig and Maria DeSanctis. She was predeceased by two sisters, Domenica Petaccia and Antonietta Breda and a daughter in law, Elizabeth DeSanctis. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Leva DeSanctis will be held Thursday, January 2nd, 2025 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mark's Church, celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to the Autism Association in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME of 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 which has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
