Levi Erickson

Levi Travis Erickson, 36, passed away on December 11, 2023. He was born to Diana Brayton and Duane Erickson on March 5, 1987, in Ames, Iowa. Levi grew up in central Iowa and spent all his free time outdoors, exploring the natural beauty of the creek beds and timber near his home. He loved to hunt and fish, alone or with friends, but most of all with his beloved yellow labrador, Bruce.
Levi was blessed with bright blue eyes fringed with dark lashes and a dimple-cheeked winning smile that he would flash before dipping his head modestly. He was a charmer, but it went more than skin deep. Levi could be funny and goofy and the life of the party, but he also showed up earnestly and with his whole heart. He always sought to do good in the world.
Levi's tender heart, generous spirit, and love of a good time were renowned. He looked out for the underdog and made an effort for those who needed a friend. He enjoyed spending time and sharing his knowledge with the younger generation. Many people looked up to him, and they will hold in their hearts everything that he taught them. In this way, his legacy will live on.
He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Vernon Peterson and Charles Erickson. Here to mourn this momentous loss are his parents, Diana (Scott) Brayton and Duane Erickson; his siblings, Meggan Van Gundy, Cole (Jenn) Conley, Hunter Erickson, Shyann Erickson, Kassidy Erickson, Melissa (Greg) Pray, and Vanessa (Mark Wade) Brayton; his grandmothers, Beverly Peterson-Gallop of Tucson, AZ, and Lola Erickson of Story City; his cousins, who were his first and lifelong friends; his aunts and uncles; and all of his nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, IA 50023).
