Levi Mentz

Levi Andrew Mentz, 34, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 25, 2025 due to an accident on the Iowa River. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 2, 2025 at the First Christian Church in Iowa Falls, with doors opening one hour prior. A light meal will be served following the service in Iowa Falls. A second memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Bible Baptist Church, 940 Walker St. in Dubuque, with visitation starting at 9:30 AM in Dubuque. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the family to be used for the benefit of Kate and Lee Mentz. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Iowa Falls is caring for Levi and his family.
Levi Mentz was born to Dana and Roxane on January 9, 1991. Early in life he gained a love of motorcycles from rides with his dad. He also loved playing video games and being outdoors. Whether it was hiking with his mom or skateboarding with his dad, he was always into having fun. At the age of 9, he was the best man when his mother married Jason Miller. He enjoyed playing games with the family at family get togethers as well as solving hand puzzles, a joy that he shared with his children.
Levi grew up to marry his childhood sweetheart, Kirsten Kelly in 2009. Up until the day of his accident they loved each other and talked almost daily. The two of the them moved to Texas where Levi worked on a cotton gin and were blessed with their beautiful daughter, Kate. Levi admitted that the time spent in Texas was a favorite memory of his. A couple years later, after relocating to Dubuque, they were blessed with their wonderful son, Lee. Levi continued his best to be a wonderful father and hard worker.
In October of 2024, Levi moved to Iowa Falls and had recently started a new job. He loved life on the farm and spending time with his kids as they rode horses, collected eggs or helped care for the dogs at the family business. It was not uncommon for either child to say in the car or at the dinner table, "I love you, dad" to which he would reply, "I love you more".
Left to cherish their memory of Levi are his children, Kate Mentz (10) and Lee Mentz (8) as well as their mother, Kirsten Mentz of Dubuque; his father, Dana (Jennifer) Mentz of Dubuque; his mother, Roxane (Jason) Miller of Iowa Falls; grandparents, Marion Welbes of Dubuque, Larry (LuAnn) Boyer of Dubuque and Darwin and Deb Miller of Iowa Falls; brothers and sisters, Lee Miller of Dyersville, Katelyn Miller of Altoona and Nate Schetgen of Dubuque; aunts, Gina Mentz of Dubuque, Tammy Johnson of Dubuque, Carrie Boyer of Fountain, FL and Jackie Spencer of Liberty, MO and cousins, Tye Stierman of Dubuque and Lexi and Peyton Spencer of Liberty, MO. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Paulette Boyer.
